Meet Us

Maree was born in Quebec, Canada in 1963. He completed his schooling at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch. He attended Stellenbosch University where he obtained honours degrees in Commerce and Accountancy. Maree qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. After five years with Price Waterhouse Coopers, Maree founded the Village & Life Group of Companies in 1994. Being an active sportsman, Maree plays tennis, is an enduro off-road motorbiking enthusiast and he jet ski’s and surfs as often as he can. Maree and his daughter, Emily, lives in Camps Bay.

Chantel matriculated at Florida High School and studied Tourism Management at the University of Stellenbosch, as well as Wine Culture and Photography. Her working experience includes highly regarded wine estates and a private game lodge. She loves working with people and is passionate about delivering high levels of service and complete customer satisfaction.

Francois is married and has two daughters.  He has lived in Cape Town his entire life.  He loves the outdoors and every opportunity he can get he makes his way to the Cedarberg mountains. He obtained his Trade diploma in Fitting & Turning (general maintenance) in 1981.  He then became a certified drafts man in 1995 and in 1999 he became a registered accredited outcome based educator. Francois previously worked for a well known Media company.

Karin has been in the hospitality industry for the last 7 years enjoying the interaction between guests and helping them make their stay one to remember.
She has lived in Camps Bay most of her life and loves the mountain, the sea and most of all the sunsets. Her home language is German which she speaks to her 3 children.
She is passionate about travel and loves to plot routes for the guests to follow to let them experience Cape Town to its fullest.

Charlene Bedford is our resident shift leader who heads up our reception area and will probably be the first person who welcomes you to Camps Bay Resort when on duty. Charlene worked for the Cape Chamber of Commerce for six years, then moved onto Telkom where she facilitated schools and colleges, in Science and Technology. In 2007 she joined Village & Life as part of the Camps Bay Resort team. Charlene has a six year old son and when off duty spends most of her time with him, her hobbies include cooking, especially for her son, reading, socializing and spending time with family and friends.

Sharon grew up in Bontehuewel and matriculated from Heideveld High School in 1999. In 2000 she completed her Hotel Management Course and completed 6 months of her practical training at the 12 Apostles Hotel. She joined Village & Life in 2005 as a housekeeper. Sharon is the eldest of 5 siblings, her hobbies are playing hockey, listening to music and also loves spending time with her 3 boys. 

Leanda went to school and matriculated at Dr. Böhmer school in Bloemfontein. She attended Bloemfontein College after school, and also spent two years working and travelling abroad, in the UK, where she worked in some top notch hotels and lived in the famous Nottinghill. She has been with Village & Life since October 2008, and lives in Oranjezicht, and loves lazing in front of movies or being creative in the kitchen

Carl was born in Cape Town and attended school in Muizenberg at Muizenberg High School.  After School, he achieved his National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and then joined the Village & Life Group in 2005.  He loves fast cars and playing the trumpet. He’s very involved in choir and orchestra and teaching young children to play instruments
